Very rare Asimov Signed Copy AND Association Copy. Signed and dated on title page by Isaac Asimov. Signed over to Walter Sullivan "To Walter Sullivan with love -- Isaac Asimov -- 20 Sept 78". This copy was obtained in Westport, Connecticut near Sullivan's former home in Riverside, Connecticut. Walter Sullivan, who died March 20, 1996, had a distinguished career as a New York Times Science Reporter and Editor. Prior to this, he was a foreign correspondent for the Times in China, Korea and Berlin. A graduate of Yale University, he was a Navy officer during World War II. He and Asimov won the Washburn Award and the Klumpke-Roberts Award for their various individual contributions to science. When Asimov wrote the mystery Murder at the ABA (American Booksellers Convention), it was based upon an actual Convention which both he and Walter Sullivan attended in NYC. Sullivan is included in this book as a character. He is the only character in the book to whom Asimov assigns a speaking part. On May 20, 1967, Asimov and Sullivan assumed roles as "The Futurists" on a CBS program entitled 'The 21st Century', discussing what the future holds for mankind. --Other Notes on Book and Contents: Publication of this book came 20 years to the day after the publication of Asimov's first book, Pebble in the Sky.
